Power Cables

Power cables that deliver

We are the experts in power cables. Our range of power cables enable a wide range of applications. These applications include indoor and outdoor installation, such as lighting systems and other building services systems. These services include heating and ventilation. Power cables are essential for rail systems, both above and below ground. They also form the infrastructure for electric vehicle charging networks, which are currently being established.

Prysmian power cables are made in Britain; designed and manufactured in the UK at three of our sites from start to finish. From making the solid or stranded conductors (shaped or circular in copper or aluminium), to insulating them using XLPE or EPR. Application of the aluminium armour for single core cables and galvanised steel armour or copper wire screens for multi-core. And finally extrusion of the PVC, LSOH of MDPE final sheaths. We provide cables that deliver excellence, that is the Power of Prysmian.

For any electric circuit that may be at risk of physical damage, armoured cables provide the ideal solution. An armoured cable is a power cable or control cable that is designed for 600/1000V mains supply electricity. Single core armoured cables feature aluminium wire armour (AWA), whilst multi-core armoured cables feature galvanised steel wire armour (SWA) due to their different reactions to magnetic fields.

Outdoor power cables

Outdoor power cables play a critical role by enabling systems to have reliable and efficient electrical connections in various outdoor environments. Whether it's for industrial projects, infrastructure development, or renewable energy installations, selecting the right outdoor cable is paramount.

Prysmian produces an extensive range of outdoor power cables which are specifically designed to withstand harsh weather conditions, extreme temperatures, and mechanical stresses. From UV-resistant sheathing to impact protection. Our cables are engineered to ensure exceptional performance and longevity in demanding environments.

With a commitment to quality and reliability, Prysmian has become the go-to partner for major construction projects worldwide. Prysmian cables have been successfully deployed in critical infrastructure developments, including transportation networks and power generation plants.

Manufactured in accordance with BS 5467, Prysmian XLPE insulated, PVC sheathed SWA and AWA cables can be installed for outdoor applications. Prysmian XLPE insulated, PVC sheathed SWA and AWA cables are manufactured in accordance with BS 5467 and can be installed in outdoor applications. In situations where low smoke, zero halogen performance, and reduced flame propagation are required, LSOH armoured cables are ideal. Prysmian BS 6724 can be used as a direct replacement for BS 5467.

Choose Prysmian for your outdoor cable needs, and let exceptional products and unwavering commitment to quality, power your projects to success.

At Prysmian Group, we take immense pride in the quality and reliability of our electrical products. We understand that when it comes to your electrical installations, peace of mind is paramount. That's why we are thrilled to announce Prysmian Extended Warranty: a 10-year extended warranty when purchase and install Prysmian SWA cable and Bicon gland or cleat.

Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSOH) cables

Construction in the UK is heavily focused on fire safety and Prysmian have been leading fire cable safety for nearly fifty years. In addition to the Prysmian FP cable range used for emergency systems, we also design and manufacture a range of Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSOH) armoured cables that power and control standard non-emergency systems such as machinery and plant.

LSOH cables are for applications where smoke emissions and toxic halogen gases are likely to pose a threat to people and essential equipment in the event of fire. Prysmian BS 6724 cables are LSOH and are ideal for both indoor and outdoor power distribution applications such as lighting and power. They are especially useful in large or complex buildings such as multi-storey offices, shops, train stations, airport terminals or hospitals where occupants will benefit from reduced toxic gases in the event of fire.

As well as LV armoured cables, LSOH cables, and high voltage cables, Prysmian designs and manufactures a wide range of medium voltage (MV) cables for commercial, industrial and utility distribution networks.

If you need a reliable source of power from substations to rail networks, industrial parks or similar constructions, then Prysmian MV cables are the ideal number one choice. They are specially manufactured to support large scale constructions. Our customers trust us to produce the highest standards of electrical cable.

Prysmian MV cables are made in Britain from start to finish. Built with quality in mind, our standard MV cables range between 6.6 kV, 11, 22 up to 33 kV. When you choose Prysmian, you can be sure that you have committed to a reliable solution which delivers outstanding performance.
