Sustainability in the UK

Our Commitment for a sustainable tomorrow

At Prysmian, sustainability is at the heart of our mission. By using sustainable processes and materials we are at the forefront of green innovation , promoting resource efficiency in our operations. We also partner with other sustainable companies to advocate responsible practices across our supply chain to reflect our commitment to a greener future. Discover how we are driving the future of sustainable cable and system solutions.

Sustainable metals

Metals play a significant role in our operations, and we are committed to sustainability by using copper with 30% recycled content. This approach is more sustainable because it reduces the demand for virgin materials, lowers energy consumption, and minimises environmental impact throughout the supply chain.

In 2024, all aluminium purchased for cable production was low-carbon. This is beneficial because low-carbon aluminum significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions associated with its production. By sourcing aluminium made with renewable energy, Prysmian is able to lower its carbon footprint, support the transition to a greener economy, and contribute to global decarbonisation efforts.

What are Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions ?

Direct greenhouse gas  emissions from sources controlled or owned by an organisation. For example fuel combustion in boilers or furnaces and emissions from owned fleet.

Indirect greenhouse gas emissions from purchased electricity , steam , heating and cooling. Emissions are created at the point of generation but are attributed to the organisation.

All other indirect greenhouse emissions along the value chain of the organisation. Including upstream emissions such as purchased products , and employee commute  and downstream emissions end-of-life treatment , waste disposal and use of product.
