Powering the nation’s homes and businesses requires robust and effective electricity transmission and distribution systems. Existing UK networks are faced with two distinct challenges: how to meet increased demand and how to accommodate new renewable energy generation. The need for an expansion of networks is immediate and acute.

Prysmian Power Grids provides a wrap-around service for power distribution at 66 and 132 kV. We design and manufacture cable that integrates seamlessly with existing infrastructure. We plan the most efficient route and supply all the logistics that support the installation of underground cable systems. We test and commission ezverything and then we provide ongoing maintenance including fault finding and emergency re-instatement where cables or networks have been damaged.

We work with the transmission and distribution network operators, providing the cable systems that carry electricity across the country. We have been manufacturing cable in the UK for over 100 years and our range includes cables from standard 1 kV to bespoke HV and EHV to over 600 kV, together with the associated joints and accessories to make the system come to life.

Supporting UK Power Grids for over 100 years

Prysmian factories have been making cable in the UK for over a century. We supplied cable systems for the first electric power grid and we have continued to support the network as it changes and expands. The next decade will see a transformation of power generation and we're right here to support this transformation.

The UK government has ambitious targets to move towards clean energy generation by 2030. This will involve doubling on-shore wind, tripling solar power and quadrupling offshore wind – effectively transforming energy generation, transmission and distribution in less than a decade.
