Prysmian Twin and Earth (T&E) cable, also referred to as Prysmian 6242Y, are two of the names given to the same flat PVC-insulated and sheathed general wiring cable, used and trusted by electricians for residential and light commercial projects. This cable is designed with two insulated cores and an uninsulated bare copper CPC, all housed within a robust, flat outer sheath. The manufacturing process of T&E cables is carried out with great attention to detail, ensuring reliability for both domestic and light commercial installations. Every component, from the copper conductor to the robust PVC sheathing, is produced to meet the highest quality standards. Prysmian T&E cables are specifically designed and manufactured to comply with the latest British Standards, guaranteeing dependable performance in power and lighting applications across various environments.

  • Made from annealed copper to BS EN 60228  

  • Class 1 (solid copper) for 1.0, 1.5 and 2.5 mm2 sizes 

  • Class 2 (stranded copper) conductors for 4, 6, 10 and 16 mm2 sizes 

  • Circuit Protective Conductor, often referred to as ‘earth’ 

  • 1.0mm2 solid copper CPC for 1.0 and 1.5mm2  

  • 1.5mm2 solid copper CPC for 2.5 and 4mm2 

  • 2.5, 4 & 6mm2 solid copper for 6, 10 & 16mm2 respectively 

  • PVC extruded in a single pass including colour 

  • Type TI 1 in accordance with BS EN 50363-3 

  • Each coloured core must be clearly identifiable, durable and unremovable in accordance with BS EN 50396 5.1 

  • PVC extruded in a single pass including colour 

  • Type 6 as specified in BS 7655-4.2 

  • Sheath removal must not damage the core insulation

  • Cable rated at 300/500 V 

  • Maximum permitted voltages AC 320 U0max V

  • Maximum permitted voltages DC 410  conductor-earth and 820 V conductor-conductor
