Prysmian Twin and Earth cable

Prysmian Twin and Earth (T&E) cable, also referred to as Prysmian 6242Y, are two of the names given to the same flat PVC-insulated and sheathed general wiring cable, used and trusted by electricians for residential and light commercial projects. This cable is designed with two insulated cores and an uninsulated bare copper CPC, all housed within a robust, flat outer sheath. Conductor

Made from annealed copper to BS EN 60228

Class 1 (solid copper) for 1.0, 1.5 and 2.5 mm² sizes

Class 2 (stranded copper) conductors for 4, 6, 10 and 16 mm² sizes

CPC

Circuit Protective Conductor, often referred to as ‘earth’

1.0mm² solid copper CPC for 1.0 and 1.5mm²

1.5mm² solid copper CPC for 2.5 and 4mm²

2.5, 4 & 6mm² solid copper for 6, 10 & 16mm² respectively

Insulation

PVC extruded in a single pass including colour

Type TI 1 in accordance with BS EN 50363-3

Each coloured core must be clearly identifiable, durable and unremovable in accordance with BS EN 50396 5.1

Outer sheath

PVC extruded in a single pass including colour

Type 6 as specified in BS 7655-4.2

Sheath removal must not damage the core insulation

Voltage

Cable rated at 300/500 V

Maximum permitted voltages AC 320 U₀max V

Maximum permitted voltages DC 410 conductor-earth and 820 V conductor-conductor
