Prysmian year in review

As we look back on the past year, Prysmian has had many successes both in the UK and globally. Here are just a few of the highlights...

Quarter One

 

 

At the start of the year we updated our branding to reflect the global energy transition and digital transformation. The new logo embodies Prysmian’s identity: the pathways, the shift, the gradient and the circularity. Find out more about it here.

In February, Prysmian launched it’s innovative breakthrough with Sirocco Extreme 864 fibres to produce the world’s densest optical cable. Read more here.

On the 8th of March we celebrated International Women’s Day at Prysmian. We spoke to some of the women in our business to get some insight into their resilience, expertise, and dedication that contribute significantly to our success. Read about their experiences at Prysmian here.

Quarter Two

 

 

Prysmian has long supported SPARKS Magazine and in April provided cables for their electricians skills competitions. Regional events for Learner Of The Year and Female Skills took place with finals at Stephenson College, Coalville and Schneider in Coventry. In May, three of our new HV Jointers graduated from the Prysmian Jointing Training School. Their Prysmian journey began in August 2023, where they dedicating over 1,500 hours to become qualified to be part of the high voltage infrastructure expansion to deliver net zero. June saw the launch of our ‘Enabling a Full Fibre Infrastructure’ whitepaper looking at the societal and economic benefits of a fully enabled digital infrastructure and how the telecoms industry has expanded rapidly to meet government targets and consumer demand. Read the full whitepaper here.

Quarter Three

 

 

Prysmian officially completed the acquisition of Encore Wire in July 2024. The combined business will help to accelerate the electrification and digital transformation in North America, which includes the growth of data centres and upgrades to the power grid. Find out more.

In August, Prysmian joined Reddit and set up a dedicated community space to bring like-minded enthusiasts together to discuss all things cable. Get involved in the conversation and join us on Reddit.

Prysmian attended Connected Britain Conference on 11th & 12th September in London. The conference featured a talk from Kris Roberts discussing the development of the Mini CSP range and how his team worked with Openreach to develop a smaller, more compact, and quicker to install product. Frederick Persson, Executive Vice President, Digital Solutions at Prysmian also delivered a keynote panel discussion looking at how the UK can achieve universal fibre coverage. Quarter Four

 

 

In October the groundbreaking ceremony for the Eastern Green Link 2 marked the start of construction on the UK’s biggest ever electricity transmission project. Prysmian will design, manufacture, install, test and commission the subsea HVDC cable system, making use of its state-of-the-art vessel fleet including Leonardo de Vinci, and its sister ship Monna Lisa.
