Celebrating International Women’s Day at Prysmian
Celebrating International Women’s Day at Prysmian
International Women’s Day (IWD) is a global celebration that recognizes the achievements of women in various spheres of life. At Prysmian, we take pride in honouring this significant day by acknowledging the contributions of our female employees and fostering gender equality within our organization.
Empowering Our Employees
At Prysmian, we believe that empowering our employees leads to a stronger, more innovative workforce. Here are some key initiatives we’ve undertaken:
Gender Balance in Hiring: We are committed to hiring at least 500 women in STEM roles by 2030. Our goal is to create a more balanced workforce that reflects the diversity of our society.
Leadership Representation: We aim for 30% of senior leadership roles to be held by women. By promoting women into leadership positions, we foster a culture of equality and inclusivity.
Zero Pay Gap: Prysmian is dedicated to ensuring equal pay for equal work. We have implemented policies to eliminate any gender-based pay disparities.
Parental Leave Policy: Prysmian has a global maternal leave policy which provides paid parental leave for all new parents, regardless of gender or family structure.
Celebrating Our Female Colleagues
On this International Women’s Day, we celebrate the achievements of our female colleagues. Their resilience, expertise, and dedication contribute significantly to our success.
“I think that international women’s day is important as it provides a clear opportunity to celebrate the hugely diverse contribution of women across society as a whole. In doing so, it highlights the great variety of ways that women can achieve amazing things depending on what they have a passion for.
My proudest achievement in my career is achieving my chartered Chemist status, as this shows that I managed to achieve a high level of development in my career across a broad range of attributes and pushed me to continuously work on my skills and my involvement in the wider Chemistry community.
I don’t have any one person who inspires me, but I love finding out about what other people do in general. I have often found myself inspired by peoples’ stories of tenacity and their enthusiasm for what they do.
I love the variety that I get with my job in the Analytical Lab. As I support all of the UK for materials analysis, I get to see the entire range of what we produce and often find out a bit about what projects/markets they are for, which I find really interesting. I love a good puzzle too, so when unusual issues come into the lab for analysis, I relish the challenge of working out what is going on! “

“One of the reasons I love working for Prysmian is how the company continuously advocates for diversity, equality, and inclusion. International Women’s Day is a perfect example of this. International Women’s Day not only celebrates women’s achievements, and the progress society has made since the start of women’s rights activism but also raises awareness to the challenges and biases (unconscious or not) women everywhere face, not just in the workplace but in everyday life. It also creates a safe space for discussion on how we can continue to progress and create an equal space for everyone.”
- Georgie Day, Cable Design Engineer
My mum inspires me. She taught me that failure is just a stepping stone to success, she went through the ups and downs of starting multiple businesses before finally hitting the jackpot with her successful business in the care sector. Her business has gone on to win awards for providing a vital service to the community, all whist she juggles the challenges of life from raising a disabled son to overcoming health issues. The resilience and kindness she shows amazes me every day.
