Warren & Brown

Cable management completes the communication infrastructure

Since its acquisition of Warren & Brown Technologies in 2024, Prysmian has been able to offer a comprehensive range of cable management systems to complement our fibre optic cables. Combining the highest quality optical fibre technology with efficient cable management and all associated components allows customers to source a complete cable system from a single manufacture.

Cable management

The stand-out product from this range is the distinctive yellow ducting. This innovative ducting system is for routing and protecting fibre optic cords between termination equipment, patch panels and fibre optic splicing frames in data centres.

The engineered system of channels, fittings and mounting brackets can be assembled to create a fibre raceway to accommodate fibre cables ranging from 1.6mm to 3.0mm diameter. The unique design of the system protects the fibre from damage and ensures that the bend radius of the cable is not compromised.

The pre-slotted components and unique dual joiner option ensures effortless snap-together assembly and the system is fully customisable. It can be designed to meet the specific needs of each installation and is easily mounted above equipment racks or below floors.

The range comprises over 350 individual components available in 7 different sizes. All components are manufactured to the highest quality standards from Noryl, a strong plastic which is self-extinguishing and halogen free. In the case of a fire, gases emitted  will not cause harm to personnel, buildings or transmission equipment.

Optical Distribution Frame

The growth in AI and data-intensive services is leading to increased numbers of fibre backbone cables entering data centres at a central cabling point.

The Prysmian multi-purpose High Density Optical Distribution Frames (HDODF) and Medium Density Optical Distribution Frames (MDODF) are designed to manage these incoming fibre cables. They provide high density connectivity, easy cable management and optical fibre patch cord protection.

The frames are available in a variety of configurations and options to ensure easy integration into any network. Used in conjunction with modular splice/patch, patch only, splice only sub racks or patch panels, they can be customised to suit numerous applications.

High Density and Medium Density Optical Distribution Frames are available in a variety of sizes to suit the footprint of any data centre.

Benefits include:

  • The frames allow for system expansion through the addition of further sub-rack (patch panel) modules as required.
  • Suitable for a variety of fibre optical cable types
  • Fibre spools for storage of excess fibre lengths can be incorporated
  • Most models are suitable for overhead or underfloor cable pathways and are compatible with fibre ducting raceways and drop offs
  • Physical network security through the provision of side panels and a variety of doors and locking options
  • Enabling easier moves, adds and changes

Patch panels

racks

Prysmian patch panels (sub racks) play a pivotal role in managing and distributing fibre connections within cabinets and racks to provide reliable, efficient high density optical connectivity.

Designed to optimise network infrastructure, the units are available as: patch only; splice only; and splice and patch panels in heights of 1-, 2- or even 3-Rack Units to allow large numbers of fibres to be terminated. Typically, all splice and patch sub racks are supplied with pigtails and through connectors pre-installed and tested, as well as all mounting hardware and ancillary equipment.

The sub-racks are available in either swing out or slide tray design.

Customer Service

Getting the most efficient and cost-effective cable management system, maximising the use of space and ensuring all cable is routed effectively and safely relies on optimal design.

The Prysmian team is able to provide a unique bespoke design service. Working with blueprints of the data centre design, our technicians will configure the system to ensure the most efficient use of space and cable resource.

Combined with our expertise in pre-terminated optical fibre cable and structured cabling systems, Prysmian is able to offer a complete service for the digital communication at the heart of data centre operation.
